Background
Chronus was founded in 2007 by technology industry veterans from Microsoft and Oracle. With a deep expertise in online community platforms, Web application development and cloud computing, we are experts in creating world-class interactive online mentoring and social learning environments.
Chronus Mentor software is a leading e-mentoring solution that is used by prominent organizations worldwide to run highly successful mentoring programs. Our customers include leading corporations, academic institutions, non-profit organizations and professional associations.
In addition to offering Chronus Mentor, Chronus develops custom online communities and social web applications for a variety of organizations.
Chronus is a Microsoft ISV Partner as well as Google’s launch partner for the OpenSocial Online Community Platform.
Management Team
Vellore “Vetri” Vetrivelkumaran, CEO & Co-founder
As our CEO, Vetri spearheads Chronus strategy and oversees business operations at Chronus. He is a hands-on executive who is known for creating innovative, award-winning software products and services. His experiences working at Microsoft and his involvement in the launch of their mentoring program sparked his passion for exploring how technology could impact learning and professional development.
In his 14 years at Microsoft, Vetri held several senior leadership roles, including the oversight of businesses running $200+ million annual budgets. One of his major accomplishments was leading the Visual Studio for Devices and Visual Studio Platform team to win the Best IDE award from InfoWorld For Visual Studio 2005. He also led the Systems Management Server (SMS) team to deliver the SMS 2003 release, which dramatically improved product quality and customer satisfaction, leading to very significant growth in revenues. SMS 2003 was a finalist for the eWeek Excellence award.
Vetri has an M.B.A from the University of Washington, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Iowa, and a B.E. in Computer Science from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
Steve O’Brian, Vice President of Marketing and Client Services
Steve oversees marketing and client services for Chronus and brings 20 years of marketing and operations experience to the organization.
Prior to joining Chronus, Steve led the marketing efforts at University of Washington Professional & Continuing Education for nearly five years. During that time, he significantly expanded the role of marketing and its value to the organization, helping more than double revenue.
Steve’s high-tech industry experience spans 15 years, including several startups. He served as vice president of marketing at Troika Networks, ending in a successful acquisition. He also served as vice president of marketing at early-stage startup GraniteEdge Networks (now Vantos), launching the company’s first network security product.
Earlier in his career Steve was senior product manager at storage networking giant McDATA (now Brocade) and held product manager and OEM marketing manager roles at 3Com.
Steve has an M.B.A. from Westminster College and a B.S. from the University of Utah.
Keth Crotty, Director of Sales
Keth manages the Chronus sales team and brings over 13 years of sales and sales consulting experience to the organization. Prior to joining Chronus, Keth worked as an independent sales consultant helping launch new products and expand sales in a variety of industries.
In addition to his extensive sales experience, Keth brings working knowledge of both Human Resources and Enterprise software solutions. This combined with a passion for mentoring and coaching has helped make him a valuable member of the Chronus organization.
Madhan Subhas, Managing Director & Co-founder
Madhan is responsible for the architecture and technology infrastructure at Chronus.
Prior to co-founding Chronus, Madhan held many leadership roles in product development. During his 10-year career at Microsoft, Madhan successfully drove the definition and execution of various V1 products including: Visual Studio Team Foundation Server, Visual Web Developer, HomeAdvisor Loan platform, and MSN Ad Server platform.
In addition to his major contributions to product development, Madhan personally orchestrated a consistent customer engagement framework for Microsoft by defining and introducing Windows Technology Adoption Programs.
Madhan has an M.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and a B.E. in Computer Science from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
Murali Bhoopathy, Vice President of Engineering & Co-founder
Murali runs our development center in Chennai, India, and is responsible for business in the Indian region. He is a proven technical and management leader and has extensive experience in building and managing talented teams both local and remote.
Prior to co-founding Chronus, Murali was the director of development at Oracle Corporation in San Francisco, California. He was one of the key architects of Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, Oracle’s flagship data center management product. Over a 10-year span, Murali was responsible for several successful releases of the product.
As director of development, he led the Architecture and Core Framework features of the product, which were instrumental in making Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control scalable and accessible, resulting in successful deployment and widespread adoption of the product among customers.
Earlier in his career, Murali spent three years executing several onsite and offshore development projects with Larsen & Toubro Info Tech, Ltd.
Murali has a B.E. in Computer Science from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
Mukesh Karki, Director
Mukesh drives the technical direction of social learning products and assists with client services. His passion to impact the direction of e-learning was a key driver in Mukesh joining Chronus.
Mukesh has extensive experience in building strong engineering teams and delivering great software. Before joining Chronus, he worked at Microsoft as a software development manager on diverse products such as Internet Explorer, MSN, Windows Client and Server Operating Systems. Most recently he led the development of Windows 7 Starter Edition, which helps realize the potential of computing for educational institutions and emerging markets.
